Open-cell spray foam expands substantially and can form a continuous air-sealing layer in suitable framed cavities and roof assemblies. Its lower density allows it to fill irregular spaces, and its thickness must be planned around the cavity and required assembly performance.
It is not interchangeable with closed-cell foam. Exposure conditions, available space, moisture strategy and finish requirements matter.
